Session Outline:

Week 1: Introduction to Listening to the Body

  • Objective: Learn to identify and understand bodily sensations.

  • Activities:

    • Introduction to Somatic Practices:

      • Overview of somatic practices and their significance.

      • Discuss the mind-body connection from a Christian perspective.

    • Identifying Bodily Sensations:

      • Guided exercises to recognize different bodily sensations.

      • Journaling prompts to reflect on physical experiences.

    • Initial Somatic Exercises:

      • Breathing techniques to enhance awareness.

      • Gentle movement exercises to connect with bodily signals.

  • Reflection:

    • Group sharing or personal journaling on insights and experiences from the session.

Week 3: Finding Safety Within

  • Objective: Cultivate a deep sense of safety and grounding.

  • Activities:

    • Exploring Advanced Somatic Techniques:

      • Teach grounding techniques that promote a sense of safety.

      • Guided visualizations to create a personal safe space.

    • Managing Personal Triggers:

      • Discussion on recognizing and understanding triggers.

      • Strategies for emotional self-regulation during challenging moments.

    • Enhancing Emotional Stability:

      • Practical exercises to help stabilise emotions.

      • Incorporate prayer and scripture for additional grounding.

  • Reflection:

    • Guided meditation focused on God’s love as a source of safety.

Week 5: Building Resilience

  • Objective: Deepen emotional understanding and resilience.
