From Orphan Parts to Wholeness in Christ
There are parts of ourselves that we often hide.
Parts we are ashamed of, afraid of, or simply disconnected from.
Maybe it’s the fearful part, the angry part, the hurting part, or the part that still struggles to trust.
In holistic language, these are sometimes called "orphan parts" — parts that feel abandoned, rejected, or lost within us.
But what if, instead of rejecting or suppressing these parts, we recognised them as invitations?
What if they pointed us back to our deep need for Christ?
And what if, through His Spirit, these orphaned parts could be gently gathered, held, and made whole?
The Bible tells us that we are not left alone in our brokenness.
Through Jesus Christ, we have been adopted into God's family — fully, completely, and lovingly.
“For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father!’”
— Romans 8:15 (CSB)
Our orphaned parts — the fearful, the ashamed, the angry, the hurting — are not barriers to our relationship with God.
They are reminders that we were never meant to navigate life without Him.
They reveal the tender places where we are invited to experience His healing love.
In Christ, we are not asked to reject these parts or pretend they don’t exist.
We are called to bring them into His light —
Allow His Spirit to gather and integrate every piece of our story, every corner of our heart.
The Spirit Within Us Heals
Healing does not come through striving or self-fixing.
Healing comes through surrender — through allowing the Holy Spirit to do the gentle, sacred work of integration.
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.”
— John 14:26 (NIV)
The Spirit does not shame our weakness.
He teaches us how to hold our wounded parts with compassion and humility — the same way Christ holds us.
Through this process, we begin to live from a place of true peace, kindness, and love.
Not manufactured or forced, but naturally flowing from the experience of being fully known and fully loved.
Jesus' words are clear:
“I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.”
— John 14:18 (CSB)
We are not spiritual orphans scrambling to survive.
We are beloved sons and daughters, adopted into a living, breathing relationship with God.
A relationship where every part of us — even the broken, hidden, hurting parts — is welcomed home.
When we allow Him to nurture our inner selves, we discover a deeper intimacy with Him.
A wholeness we cannot manufacture ourselves.
A peace that passes understanding.
A love that transforms us from the inside out.
