For teachers & school leaders
"Teaching holds more than learning. It holds behaviour, emotion, and constant demand."
Teaching Has Never Been More Complex.
The role asks more of you than it ever has. You're not just delivering curriculum, you're managing your own responses, your own nervous system, your own internal world, while simultaneously holding space for thirty others who are each bringing their own.
How you show up.
How you respond.
How you model regulation when everything in the room is pulling at you.
That's not just teaching anymore. That's an enormous amount of a human being to ask.
This Is Where Somatic Acupoint Technique Comes In.
SAT works with the body not around it. Using meridian-based tapping combined with somatic awareness, it helps you build the internal capacity to notice what's happening in you before it becomes a reaction.
Not fixing. Not performing calm. Building.
Building the pause between what happens and how you respond. Building the awareness to recognise when you're heading toward overwhelm and the tools to meet it before it meets you.
This isn't about becoming a different teacher. It's about having more of yourself available for the one you already are.
Why Group Staff Sessions Work So Well.
There's something powerful about a staff team learning this together.
When the whole room builds a shared language for regulation when everyone knows what it feels like to pause, to ground, to come back it shifts the culture of a school from the inside out.
Group sessions create connection, normalise the hard parts of the job, and give your whole staff team tools they can use the next morning.
Because a regulated staff room raises a regulated school.
WHAT IS SAT?
Somatic Acupoint Technique (SAT) is a gentle, body-based approach that helps you regulate from the inside out not just after the moment has passed, but in it.
Your body and brain are in constant conversation.
SAT works with that connection not against it..
When we experience stress or difficult emotions, our nervous system responds before our thinking brain can catch up. Understanding this and having a physical way to interrupt it is the foundation of both somatic therapy and acupoint work.
When we experience stress or a difficult moment, our autonomic nervous system responds before our thinking brain can catch up triggering fight, flight, or freeze automatically.
Somatic therapy recognises that stress and emotion are not just mental events; they are held in the body as physical sensation, tension, and posture. By learning to notice and work with these bodily signals, we can begin to regulate from the inside out.
Acupoint tapping builds on this by stimulating specific points on the body used in traditional Chinese medicine points that, as modern neuroscience confirms, send direct calming signals to the amygdala, the brain's threat-detection centre.
Together, these two approaches interrupt the stress-response loop at a physiological level: the body receives a signal of safety, cortisol drops, and the nervous system is able to settle quickly, and without needing to wait for the moment to pass.
Together, they create something practical.
SAT combines somatic body-awareness with acupoint tapping into a simple, in-the-moment technique anyone can use no prior experience needed.
A tool you can reach for in real time, not just in reflection afterward.

IN PERSON OR ONLINE ZOOM, NO SCHOOL TOO FAR AWAY
Every school is different. Every teacher is different.
So the support should be too.
Soul Roots Therapy offers professional development experiences in two formats designed to meet your staff at the level they need most.
Staff Group Sessions
For whole-team wellbeing and shared language
Bring your whole staff into the room. Group sessions create a shared experience building nervous system literacy, emotional resilience, and a common language for regulation across your school culture.
Ideal for PD days, team wellbeing initiatives, or opening the conversation about teacher burnout.
Group sessions available in-person (Barossa/Adelaide region) or virtually.
Individual Sessions
For the teacher who needs more
Sometimes one person is carrying more than the group knows. Individual sessions offer a private, held space for a teacher or staff member to process what's underneath without the pressure of performing okayness in front of colleagues.
Available as a standalone or as a follow-on from group work.
Group sessions available in-person (Barossa/Adelaide region) or virtually.
